Dave’s career highlights include participating in all 3 matches of the World Cup Finals in Italy in 1990 especially the match against Brazil, the European Championships Finals in Sweden 1992 where he again played all 3 matches. Dave also played in every match of Champions League matches which included an unbeaten 10 game run in the 1992/93 season.
Domestically Dave won many honours which include 2 Scottish Cup Winners medals, 4 League Cup Winners medals and 3 League Championships. The highlight being the domestic treble in season 1992/93 with Rangers FC.
More recently Dave had the honour of being inducted into the Rangers FC Hall of Fame in 2014, an honour that only 100 other players have had bestowed upon them since the club was founded in 1872.
When a fresh football challenge was needed Dave made the bold move to play in Australia with Carlton FC. Dave offered experience in a league that was in its infancy and had the honour of MVP (most valuable player) bestowed upon him during his time with the club.
Having enjoyed 23 years of professional football Dave made a gradual transition into sports consultancy where he continues to live and breathe his passion for sport, without having to suffer the physical aches and pains. Dave sources high calibre athletes for top tier clubs in the UK, Europe and the US. This takes him all over the world watching teams and players from amateur to professional levels.
Dave feels passionately about developing sporting talent alongside academic achievement and has seen first-hand the opportunities that the US Scholarship route can provide. This passion, combined with sporting and consultancy experience, has driven him to establish GSR along with his colleagues.
At the age of 17 years old, John signed his first professional contract at Motherwell Football Club, Scotland. After 3 successful years at Motherwell F.C, he took his footballing ambitions across the pond to USA to pursue a ‘Soccer’ scholarship.
John attended Long Island University, Brooklyn, New York, for two years. He was competing at a competitive collegiate level as well as studying for his Bachelor Degree in Media Arts. After two stand out years at LIU, John transferred universities, where he spent his final two years at The University of Nevada, Las Vegas. John competed in every game at UNLV over his two-year period as well as earn personal accolades on the pitch. John graduated from The University of Nevada, Las Vegas with his Bachelor of Arts Degree before returning home Scotland.
During John’s time in America, he spent three years playing in the Premier Development League (PDL), a soccer league which is offered to collegiate athletes to participate in over a three-month summer period. John was a standout performer for each of his respective teams; Palm Beach Puma’s (Florida), St Louis Lions (Missouri) and El Paso Patriots (Texas).
On his return to Scotland, John signed a professional contract, with then 2nd Division team, Stirling Albion Football Club, where he appeared in every game over a successful season for the club.
John has been involved in the recruitment and placement of athletes on sports scholarships since his return from USA. His wealth of experience and passion for sports has driven him to offer talented athletes the opportunity he was given, and live the American Dream!!
A former student-athlete and graduate Martin Methodist college, Tennessee, having experienced four successful years on a soccer scholarship, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. Upon graduation, Simone was appointed assistant coach of the college soccer team whilst completing his coaching badges.
Since returning to the UK in 2010, Simone has developed key connections with college coaches all over America and offers a wealth of experience guiding and placing talented young athlete’s in the US.
GSR was formed with a vision to help other aspiring student athletes to experience the same fantastic opportunity that he had.
After leaving school, and being successful at a county level, winning the Lothian Amateur Championship, Zander went on a golf scholarship to the University of Minnesota. After an amazing two years in the USA, he returned to the UK to continue his studies at the University of Stirling, where he also received a golf scholarship. While at Stirling, the team won 4 Scottish University Championships, 3 British University Championships and 2 European University Championships. Zander was captain for 2 of his years, also individually winning the International Collegiate where teams from the USA came to compete. Zander was also selected to represent Team GB at the World University Games in 2014.
Outside of university golf, Zander had a successful amateur career, representing Scotland at the 2013 Home Internationals. The highlight of his amateur career was winning the 2013 Scottish Amateur Championship.
After his amateur career, he turned professional, where he played in events all across the world on the European Tour, Challenge Tour, Pro Golf Tour and the Euro Pro Tour.
